1st Annual Meeting of the St. Matthew's Boy Scout Troop Committee - 8th May 1922

S. Matthew's Troop Boy Scouts
1st Annual Meeting
8th May 1922

Present: Rev. Canon S. Hamilton (Chairman), Messrs D. Lee, F Wilson, J. S. Kelly, C. H. Clibborn & Scoutmaster J. C. Robinson

The Chairman traced the History of the Troop as the Avonside Troop - Lady Liverpool's Own - & since it had become St. Matthew's Troop.  He reported that the 3 months probation, upon which the Vestry had agreed, had expired & that he had recommended that the Troop should become St. Matthew's Troop.  He detailed the conditions upon which the Troop would continue, & the general rules for membership.

The Troop then formed up on the stage & formally accepted the conditions & took promise of faithful service.

Mr Clibborn gave a short address on the former high standing and merit of the Troop & upon Scout ideals generally.  He reported the gift by Lady Liverpool of a Silver Cup for competition by the Troop & of a Troop Flag, & also that he had written to Lady Liverpool advising her of the transfer of the Troop to St. Matthew's & asking for her consent to the Troop continuing as Lady Liverpool's Own.

The Scoutmasters Report for the period of 14 weeks to date was read & adopted, likewise his statement of receipts & expenditure for the 12 months to 31/3/22 which showed a credit balance of £2.6.0- cash in hand.

The Troop then gave exhibitions of First Aid Drill, Knotting & Splicing, Jiu Jitsu, Haka, etc.

The meeting appointed Messrs D. Lee & J. S. Kelly as Scout Parents Rep's on the Committee, & the Chairman reported that Messrs F. Wilson and C. H. Clibborn had been appointed the Vestry's representatives for the ensuing year.

Mr C. H. Clibborn was appointed Hon. Secy & Treasurer to the Troop Committee.

A proposal that a concert be organised by the Committee, parents and voluntary helpers in aid of the Troop Camp Equipment was approved.

Refreshments were kindly provided by the Troop & parents, and the meeting closed with the singing of the National Anthem.
